Bellator 95: Curran Vs Shamhalaev Results And Play-By-Play

Bellator 95

Bellator will wrap up its eighth season this Thursday night at Revel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey with an potential-laden lineup. Bellator 95 Curran Vs Shamhalaev features a featherweight title fight between Pat Curran and Shahbulat Shamhalaev for the Bellator strap, plus the main card is also highlighted by the conclusion of the Season 8 Featherweight Tournament with a fight between ‘Frodo’ Khasbulaev-Mike Richman and the conclusion of the Season 8 Middleweight Tournament with a tilt between Brett Cooper-Doug Marshall.

Rick Hawn vs. Karo Parisyan

Round 1(ref: Oliver)

Parisyan takes the center and they begin to feel each other out. Hawn clinches with Parisyan, and Parisyan eats a low blow and we get break. Looked legal to me. Hawn lands a solid leg kick, and he is really looking to counter Parisyan. Parisyan is the one coming forward, but he isn’t landing anything significant. Both fighters trade leg kicks, and Parisyan is being very cautious. Hawn lands a knee from the clinch. Parisyan is landing some jabs, but Hawn seems to be landing the harder strikes. Hawn takes a kick to the pills and we have s hort break. Hawn lands a nice combination to the body. Hawn lands a head kick and follows up with a one two that backs Parisyan up.

Round 2

Hawn comes forward early and lands a combination backing Parisyan up, but he takes a stand and throws a jab. Parisyan now coming forward again pawing with his jab. Parisyan eats a hook to the body, and a straight right. Parisyan misses huge on a combination, and makes him pay with two lefts to the body. Big right hand lands on Parisyan ands puts him on queer street, and he follows up with another one sending him hard to the matt. He lands two more punches and gets the stop. Parisyan is complaining but he was done.

Brett Cooper vs. Doug Marshall

Round 1

Marshall comes forward right away and lands  a hook, and is slugging. Both landing big shots. Cooper walking down Marshall and lands 2 shots, and he ducks under for the takedown. Marshall scrambles up, but Cooper takes him down again. Cooper landing some some short punches from half guard. Marshall scrambles and we have a grappling stalemate going on on the fence. Marshall lands a huge left hand that backs up Cooper, and lands a right hand on the temple that sends him down. Marshall lands one more that puts Cooper out cold.

Magomedrasul Khasbulaev vs. Mike Richman

Round 1(ref: Keith Peterson)

Khasbulaev is circling early, and lands a looping left. Both exchanging and Khasbulaev lands a nice spinning back kick. Richman doing well landing one-twos and landing straight rights. Khasbulaev lands a nice combo followed by a body kick. That combination is paying dividends, but Richman lands a big left hand. Khasbulaev is just walking in on Richman throwing his left over and over again. Richman is landing punches, but its Khasbulaev landing more of them. Richman has the speed advantage but he isn’t using it really. It’s a close round, but Khasbulaev really finding a rhythm.

Round 2

Richman takes the center and is walking down Khasbulaev. Richman looks more calm, and is landing his counters. Khasbulaev really opens up and is landing alot on Richman. Richman getting more comfortable and Khasbulaev has really gotten more cautious. Khasbulaevis cut over the right eye. Khasbulaev gets the takedown and lands some ground and pound, but Richman scrambles up relatively quick. Khasbulaev catches a kick but can’t get the fight down. Richman lands a decent combination that reminds Khasbulaev he is in a fight, and he plants and throws a solid jab. Khasbulaev throws a kick and misses and ends up on the ground, but Richman waives him up. Richman takes Khasbulaev down anyway, and doesn’t really do much with it.

Round 3

Khasbulaev takes the center, and Richman is now coming forward. Khasbulaev is really looking to clinch, but he can’t get a hold of Richman. Khasbulaev shoots and eventually gets the take down. Khasbulaev lands some GnP, but Richman pops  up. Khasbulaev landing his left  hand a few times in a row, but its Richman coming forward most  of the time. Khasbulaev lands a big  upper cut prompting Richman to come forward firing. Khasbulaev lands a superman punch. Richman lands a nice hook, but Khasbulaev is able to counter. Richman is landing a straight, and a body shot. Khasbulaev gets the takedown, and lands some ground and pound. Richman pops up and lands a 1-2.  Khasbulaev shoots again, but Richman stuffs. Fighters going toe to toe in the last minute. Great scrap.

The feeling out begins and Shamhalaev takes the center. Curran has a big reach advantage in this bout. Shamhalaev lands a low kick that lands hard. Both being cautious. Shamhalaev still working the low kicks, and Curran fires back with a body kick. Curran lands a head ick that grazes but Shamhalaev lands a few leg kicks. Curran shoots and creates a scramble, he grabs a hold of the neck of Shamhalaev and pulls guard with an arm in guillotine. Shamhalaev goes out cold.
