Daniel Cormier admits to Octagon "jitters" at UFC on Fox 7, felt he laid an egg "a little bit" against Frank Mir

"I've had a very long athletic career. I've competed at the highest levels of all my sports and I always kind of laughed at Dana [White] when he said 'the jitters.' I was like, with my career, compared to this, there's no chance I'm going to [have the jitters]. But then I was nervous. I was so nervous today. It's almost like, you want it so bad, you want to do so well, and it's just kind of, kind of laying an egg a little bit. I didn't fight the fight I wanted to."

-Daniel Cormier talks about getting a classic case of the Octagon jitters on Saturday night after UFC on Fox 7 (transcribed by Yahoo! Sports).

Penick's Analysis: Even though it wasn't his best performance, I still maintain that Cormier has nothing to be sorry for in that fight. He was still very impressive in the clinch, and even though the crowd got down on it a little bit, he controlled that fight and was never once in any danger. That's hard to do against Frank Mir, because he is a savvy vet who can catch people if they're off or if they give him an opening. Cormier didn't do that, he didn't allow Mir any openings, and that was one key to a one-sided win.
