Brazilian site Tatame.com recently caught up with UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, and asked him about potential superfights against Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre. Here's what the Champ had to say:
On Jones bout on UFC's 20-year-anniversary in November: "Look ... If I live until then ... (laughs). But I think so. Anything can happen. But I think it's possible to happen, yes. I have to train, you know, to make a great show for the fans."
On Georges St-Pierre: "I did not see his last fight, but I think [he is] a great strategist. Fight's within the rules. It is nothing too abnormal. He's a complete guy, but he struggles with the very rule of the sport. He knows how to use... the rules [well]."
Penick's Analysis: With Johny Hendricks defeating Carlos Condit, I think that keeps St-Pierre in the welterweight division to take that fight. Silva-Jones is a very real possibility for November, though both need to win their next title fights against Chris Weidman and Chael Sonnen, respectively. Then, if MMA gets legalized in New York - as it very well might this time around - then it would be the perfect fight for the UFC to run in the main event of their first ever Madison Square Garden show.
