Michael Bisping wants title-fight after beating Brian Stann at UFC 152

UFC middleweight Michael Bisping has done as much or more than any of his divisional peers when it comes to positioning himself as one of the company’s chief contenders. “The Count” has scored wins in five of his last six fights with the lone exception involving a closely contested decision loss to Chael Sonnen.

Bisping further established his claim to a crack at Anderson Silva‘s championship last night at UFC 152 by beating Brian Stann, showing crisp striking and improve wrestling throughout. With another triumph under his belt the brash Brit has hopes of finally getting his title-shot instead of taking a seat behind Chris Weidman, Tim Boetsch, or Alan Belcher.

“I want to fight for the title. I have been here for a long time. I continue to win fights and do it impressively. I am a draw and I have been eying it for a long time. That is the fight I want,” said Bisping at the post-event press conference.

UFC President Dana White was also asked for his take on the matter, and though the outspoken executive didn’t go so far as to say Bisping would be next for Silva, he certainly didn’t deny the possibility.

“I don’t know what’s next. I know Bisping looked great and he always comes to fight,” explained White. “I think a fight with Bisping and Anderson is an interesting fight.”

Bisping improved his overall record to 23-4 with the win over Stann. Eighteen of his victories have involved some form of finish.
