If the Anderson Silva super fight doesn't pan out, which UFC light heavyweight would you most like to see against Jones and why?
RICH HANSEN, MMATORCH COLUMNIST
Machida deserves the next shot for the 205 lb. title. I don't see Gustafsson having any chance against Jones; none whatsoever. That said, I already saw Machida fight him, and I want fresh fights. Rematches are fine when the initial fight is particularly memorable. So let Jones slaughter Gustafsson, and then move up to heavyweight.

I predict a few of my colleagues will make the argument for Daniel Cormier, but I really just don't see how this is more appealing than a Jones-Dos Santos or Velasquez bout. The chance to see these men stand in the center of the Octagon and bang is just too much to pass up. I know I may catch some flack for this choice also, but something inside me would love to see Jon Jones destroy a cocky Alistair Overeem.

I'm with Jones himself on this one. I'd like to see him fight Alexander Gustafsson. I think that'd be another great win for Jones and prove that he doesn't need to be bigger than someone to beat them. I would also be in favor of a new matchup. I'd be ok with Lyoto Machida getting the shot, though. I'd like to see a desperate Machida who knows this is his last chance at the title. I think that might cause him to actually try to fight Jones early.
BRAD WALKER, MMATORCH COLUMNIST
Glover friggin Teixeira. That answer probably surprised no one who knows my fighter beliefs. Glover is going to kill James Te Huna and sadly not budge in the top 10 rankings because he's smacking around another irrelevant guy. Gustafsson would get smashed by Jones, I'm sorry to all his believers out there, but I'm not one of them. Machida can bring a fight, Hendo would be a fun one too. I will refuse to say anyone but Glover Teixeira. Ever. Jon Jones is in sweep mode, he's cleaning out every former champion on the planet, legitimately he should be 18-0, thats generally where one takes their first loss. Can Glover beat Jones? Probabaly not, but it's still the fight I would select for the man, after his half attached toe is healed up I hope we get something for him that is actually going to test him.
TONY BECERRA, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR
There are two options Alexander Gustafsson and Lyoto Machida and I see Jones picking the former. In the post fight press conference Jones said he has already fought Machida and would be more interested in taking a fight against Gustafsson and who wouldn't want to see that? The size match up is intriguing even for Jones, who said he wants to shut up the critics that say he is bigger than all of his opponents. It truly all depends on Jones' return from his injury and if Anderson's "phone call" has any impact on the matchmaking.
ERIC HOBAUGH, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR
I like the fight with Gustafsson. He is a stand up fighter and I think that is the most exciting fight out there right now for Jones. I am not saying Jon Jones cannot be beaten, but I do not see anyone fighting today that can beat him. Gustafsson poses a real threat because he is one of the biggest light heavyweights in the UFC and he is hard to take down. His striking is excellent as well. I think this is the next title fight the UFC should make at LHW.
ANWAR PEREZ, MMATORCH COLUMNIST
Most likely, the next challenge for Jon Jones will come from the heavyweight division as I can see Daniel Cormier dropping weight to face Jones. Cormier looks like the kind of heavyweight that would be outsized by most of the division, so why not drop down to face the light-heavyweight champion and give him a run for his money. If the UFC does decided to stay in the division for Jones next fight, then Alexander Gustaffson will be the next to be cut down by the champion.
DAN MOORE, MMATORCH UK COLUMNIST
It seems like only yesterday when we were lauding the Light-Heavyweight division for being full of talent and potential contenders for Jones. 18 months or so later and apart from a few, everyone else will already be on chance number two if they get another title shot. Although I'd like to see Alexander Gustafsson have one more fight before Jones, he would be my choice simply by default.
Daniel Cormier needs a fight at LHW if he decides to drop. Glover Teixeira needs another big win other than just Rampage Jackson. Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans have each other to focus on, in a must win for both. As I said before Gustafsson needs another win, but he's still the best option available. A win over Gegard Mousasi in Sweden and any doubts would have evaporated. What a shame that fight didn't come to fruition.
