With a blink of an eye – or in this case, an injured foot – “UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland” has changed to “UFC 161: Henderson vs. Evans.”
On Tuesday afternoon, the UFC confirmed previous reports that interim bantamweight champ Renan Barao’s injured foot has forced him out of next month’s title defense against Eddie Wineland.
The light heavyweight scrap between Dan Henderson (pictured) and Rashad Evans, which initially had third-to-top billing in the June 15 lineup, now headlines the pay-per-view broadcast. Given their last-minute promotion, the 205-pounds will meet in a three round affair as opposed to five frames.
The organization didn’t report whether Wineland would remain in the event or shelved for another day. In addition, it is unknown which preliminary bout will get bumped to the main card.
MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Canada hosts the festivities.
Here is the show’s revised roster:
Preliminary Card:
Roland Delorme vs. Edwin Figueroa
John Maguire vs. Mitch Clarke
