The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced on Monday their 2013 event schedule for FOX television, as well as, confirming upcoming event details.
There will be four UFC on FOX events in 2013 with the first taking place on January 26th from the United Center in Chicago. The remaining three events will be held on April 20th, July 27th and December 14th. The city and venues for those events have yet to be announced. In addition, February 16th marks the date for an international event on UFC on FUEL TV.
The UFC is heading into their second year in broadcasting on FOX television, which also includes programming on the FX and FUEL TV channels. Additional events for FX and FUEL TV will be announced at later dates.
The recently confirmed middleweight match-up between Vitor Belfort and Michael Bisping in Brazil will be a UFC on FX event. The featherweight title clash between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar will go down on February 2nd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Finally, the light heavyweight title champion Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen will take place on April 27th from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Jones and Sonnen are currently serving as coaches for The Ultimate Fighter 17 which will debut in January.
“2013 is shaping up to be a huge year for the UFC and we can’t wait to bring more great fights to FOX!” said UFC President Dana White stated on the official press release. “We’re going to continue to take the UFC all over the world putting on the biggest and best fights. FOX is an amazing broadcast partner and we’re going to do some big things next year.”
