Cheick Kongo didn't want to take a fight on short notice this fall or winter, turning down proposed bouts with Daniel Cormier and Roy Nelson because of a lack of preparation time. However, he's now lobbying for a fight on the UFC 156 card.

Both Kongo and fellow heavyweight Stefan Struve want to fight each other at UFC 156 this February, and took to Twitter to ask UFC President Dana White to get the fight together.

Kongo is 4-1-1 over his last six fights, most recently defeating Shawn Jordan this summer at UFC 149. Struve has won four straight, and is 9-3 overall in his UFC career. In his most recent bout, Struve took out previously unbeaten Stipe Miocic by TKO in the second round at UFC on Fuel 5.

Penick's Analysis: This would be a good heavyweight fight, and a solid matchup for both fighters. Struve wants to keep making his way up the ranks, and getting past Kongo would move him onto the next level. He's still a very young fighter, and though his three losses have all been particularly brutal, he's shown a lot more positives than negatives thus far.
