Nick Ring-Constantinos Philippou fight scratched from UFC 154 lineup

A last minute illness has forced middleweight Nick Ring out of a bout with Constantinos Philippou planned for the PPV portion of UFC 154. Given the short amount of turnaround time, the match-up has been removed from the card and will likely be rebooked for a future event.

UFC officials announced the change earlier today. As a result, a lightweight tilt between Mark Bocek-Rafael dos Anjos has been bumped up to the main card and a Facebook fight featuring Antonio Carvalho-Rodrigo Damm will now air on FX.

The 17-6 Dos Anjos is coming off back-to-back wins over Kamal Shalorus and Anthony Njoukuani, while Bocek (11-4) has done the same against the likes of Nik Lentz and most recently John Alessio. Their pairing should deliver a pleasing result for fans of grappling, as both men are well-versed in BJJ and each owe the bulk of the victories to submission attempts.

UFC 154 kicks off at 6:30 PM EST on Facebook before FX takes over 90 minutes later and PPV closes the card out starting at 10:00 PM EST.
