Johnson vs. Dodson, Cerrone vs. Pettis booked for UFC on FOX 6

UFC flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson will defend his title for the first time against John “The Magician” Dodson in the main event of UFC on FOX 6. Also set for the fight card is a highly anticipated lightweight clash between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Anthony “Showtime” Pettis. The fights were initially reported on Tuesday’s episode of UFC Tonight on FUEL TV.

Johnson (16-2-1) captured the inaugural flyweight championship with a split decision win over Joseph Benavidez at UFC 152. He earned the opportunity to fight for the title with a win over Ian McCall in the opening round of the flyweight tournament. Dodson (14-5) is the Season 14 winner of The Ultimate Fighter. He has won his last five outings, including a second round technical knockout of Jussier da Silva at UFC on FX.

The match-up between Cerrone and Pettis is one which fans have been waiting for to materialize. Both fighters will look to extend their current two fight winning streak. In his most recent bout, Cerrone (19-4-1) recorded a spectacular come from behind knockout of former training partner Melvin Guillard at UFC 150. Pettis (15-2) has not fought since UFC 144 in February when he earned the “Knockout of the Night” by taking out Joe Lauzon.

UFC on FOX 6, which was officially announced on Monday by the UFC, will take place on January 26th at the United Center in Chicago.
