There was a time when just the mention of the name Georges St. Pierre’s, with regards to a UFC event in Canada, meant a sell out of tickets in minutes. Those days seem to be behind us. We are just over a week out from UFC 154, and there are still prime tickets on sale for the event. On a conference call to promote the event, UFC President Dana White said they might have priced the tickets to high for the event, but it will still end up being one of the biggest cards of the year.
White told the media that there was no need to panic:
“We’re still a week and a half out, and I heard rumblings about this gate not doing well, Georges St-Pierre not selling out. The gate’s over $3 million…the gate’s at like $3.1 million right now, I wouldn’t say that the gate sucks. The biggest you can do at the Bell Centre is $4 million what we did the last time with Georges St-Pierre…Maybe we did over price this one a bit much, but times are tough out there. We’ll see what happens. As we get closer to the event, we’ll see how it goes.”
