According to Bellator MMA CEO Bjorn Rebney talks with former Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez have broken down. Bellator exercised their right to match clause when the UFC offered him a deal, but the fighter has taken the matter to court. As recently as March, Rebney was hopful and optimistic a settlement could be reached, but it now sounds like that optimism has worn away.
Rebney told MMAJunkie:
“I don’t have any projections of it getting settled at this point because we’re not talking. We have a position that we did everything right legally, and the court has supported us. I thought we were headed down a road [to resolution], and then everything went real dark.”
