Demetrious Johnson calling for fight at UFC on FOX 8

The UFC has made it a point to feature title-fights on the company’s FOX cards and flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson hails from Washington. As such, it seems “Mighty Mouse” would be a perfect fit for UFC on FOX 8 given the event’s attachment to Seattle and, as it turns out, Johnson thinks so too.

The 26-year old contacted MMAFighting after a recent announcement regarding the summer show, telling the outlet, “Spread the word, I want the UFC on FOX 8 headline spot if it hasn’t been filled yet.”

Johnson is currently in the process of recovering from shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum. The injury cost him a match-up in April with John Moraga at the Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale, though clearly the 17-2-1 Johnson feels he’ll be healthy enough to fight by July 27. He is still expected to face Moraga when he returns.
