On Monday, Jamie Varner announced a torn rotator cuff has forced him out of his UFC on FOX 9 fight against Pat Healy. Less than 24 hours later and Healy has already been issued a new assignment on December 14.
Bobby Green (pictured), who is just six days removed from his controversial TKO victory over James Krause at UFC Fight for the Troops 3, announced on his Facebook page that he’s agreed to serve as a last-minute substitute on December 14.
“Ill be fighting pay Healy in dec in San Jose so back to work for me,” Green posted Tuesday.
Green is now unbeaten in two big league bouts. Prior to low kicking (or not low kicking) his way to a W against Krause, he rallied to submit Jacob Volkmann at UFC 156.
Healy was dominated by Khabib Nurmagomedov in his last outing at UFC 165. “Bam Bam” was impressive in his big league debut, but his win over Jim Miller was overturned to a no contest after he tested positive for marijuana.
The 155-pound affair will appear in the night’s prelims.
No word on how long Varner will be riding the pine.
Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California hosts the festivities. FOX will broadcast the main card live starting at 8PM ET/5PM PT.
