UFC champ Jose Aldo talks of future move to 155 lbs

Jose Aldo says he used to get annoyed with people asking him if he'd ever move up in weight to lightweight. That's the type of question someone is asked though when he dominates at featherweight as Aldo has done in the WEC and UFC.

And, since beating former UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar (who moved down to 145 to challenge Aldo for his featherweight belt), Aldo now says he's sure that one day he'll go up in weight and fight at 155 pounds.

"People will never forget this idea [of me fighting at lightweight]," Aldo recently told Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting.

"I was pissed with that in the past, and then I fought Edgar and proved that I could do good fights [at lightweight]...We’ll see what happens. I still have many goals to accomplish. One day I’ll fight at 155."

Fighting bigger men would not be anything new for the Brazilian. Aldo says he trains with larger sparring partners in every camp.

"We always train with heavier sparring partners to make it harder," he said.

"So the fight will be easier...It would be normal for me [to fight at 155]. We create difficulties in training so we never think it’s easy."

Aldo fights next against Ricardo Lamas at UFC 169, Feb. 1 in defense of his featherweight title.

How do you think Aldo would do in the UFC's lightweight division? Let us know in the comments section.
