Thiago Tavares was hoping to make his featherweight debut next week at UFC Fight Night 36, which is coming near to Jaragua do Sul near his hometown of Florianopolis. He campaigned to get on the card, and was granted a slot against UFC newcomer Zubair Tuhugov.

Unfortunately, injury has struck him from that card, according to a report from MMAJunkie.com, and they're searching for a replacement to meet Tuhugov on the card.

Tavares scored a submission win over Justin Salas in his last bout in November, bouncing back from a knockout loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in his previous outing. He's 3-2 in five fights over the last three years, and was hoping to make the drop down on this card, which will now be delayed.

Next week's card airs live on Fox Sports 1, and is headlined by a middleweight bout between Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi.
