Nick Diaz happy with WAR MMA debut, no plans yet set for second event

Nick Diaz's new MMA promotion, WAR MMA, kicked off on Saturday night with an event from Stockton, Calif. The card was streamed live online as a "pay what you want" offering, and brought 12 live fights to fans.

In the main event, Justin Baesman pulled off a slight upset when he defeated Daniel Roberts by split decision, the first loss for Roberts since his stint in the UFC. The card also featured seven total decisions despite some rule tweaks hoping to induce action. Afterward, though, Diaz was pleased with the end result, and though no concrete plans are in place for their second event, he said they hope to figure that all out soon.

"We’re happy; everyone seemed to enjoy it," Diaz said after the event (via BJPenn.com. "I have a very good team working with me. I didn't call all the shots, but I OK'd things and knew what I wanted. I have no set plans at this time. We'll get together and lay everything out, and discuss it. Then we'll go from there.”
