With a massive influx of fighters from the Strikeforce roster, the UFC is reportedly planning to expand the number of fights they feature per event. According to CagePotato.com, the UFC will begin increasing the number of fights per event to 12-13 fights.

It's a slight change, as most events have featured 11 fights per card, but with a bloated roster 12 and 13-fight cards will allow the UFC to give as many fighters as possible on the roster opportunities to stay active.

The shift in fights-per-card is evident in the events coming in April, and 13-fight cards especially are expected to be a regular practice beginning with UFC 160 in Las Vegas this May.

Penick's Analysis: It's the right move to make with how many fighters they've got right now. Better more fighters per event than trying to cram in even more events because of their roster size. We'll still be seeing a lot of cuts over the next year as they parse through the talent, but they're giving a lot of those Strikeforce fighters a chance at least, and more fights per card is the way to go.
