After racking up wins over Kamal Shalorus, Gleison Tibau, and Thiago Tavares in his first three Octagon appearances, it seemed as though UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov was ready to test himself against the division’s best in hopes of putting together a run at the title. While his next opponent doesn’t quite live up to that billing, Nurmagomedov should still have his hands full come UFC 160 when the two lock horns.
Earlier this week, UFC officials confirmed Nurmagomedov will see action against Abel Trujillo at the May 25 event.
Nurmagomedov is unbeaten thus far nineteen fights into his career. Also impressive, the 24-year old Russian has finished fourteen of his foes with an even split between submissions/strike-based stoppages.
The 10-4 Trujillo scored a second round TKO against Marcus LeVesseur in his UFC debut this past December. The result marked his fifth win in a row.
