Mike Pierce will not be making the long journey to Brazil next month to face Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night: Dos Santos vs. Miocic.
Pierce confirmed a report by MMAjunkie.com stating that he suffered a broken hand, posting “yep, it’s true” on Facebook.
The report states that the UFC is looking to find a new opponent for Maia to remain on the May 31 card from Sao Paulo. The event just received a new main event, as Junior dos Santos-Stipe Miocic will compete.
Pierce (17-6) has posted a 9-4 record inside the Octagon, including a 5-2 mark in his last seven. He was submitted by Rousimar Palhares last October.
