Dana White says the UFC won't grant Nate Diaz his Twitter-requested release

"He hasn't called me. Is that how we do these things? You tweet? The answer would be no, [I would not let him out]... He just signed a new contract that he was happy with a month ago. That's definitely not controversial for the Diaz brothers – that's called normal. I've got 500 guys under contract, and there's always something. Every day when I wake up, there's something... The crazy thing about this this is, I actually like the Diaz brothers. Are they nutty as hell? Yes they are. But I like both of them, and they're fun to watch fight."

-Dana White responds to Nate Diaz's bizarrely random request for a release from the UFC last week during a pre-UFC Fight Night 37 media scrum (transcribed by MMAJunkie.com).

Penick's Analysis: Dana likes to say that if guys don't want to be there, they're not going to make it difficult for them, but that's also in regards to fighters who have completed their contracts. If Diaz just signed a new deal, the UFC isn't going to even consider releasing him. Now, he may decide not to fight, but his contract will just freeze then, much like has happened with his brother. Regardless, expect to see Diaz's next fight in the Octagon, whenever that may be.
