B.J. Penn's featherweight debut is officially set, and as previously reported, his Ultimate Fighter 19 coaches fight with Frankie Edgar will headline the TUF 19 Finale event in Las Vegas on July 6.
Ariel Helwani confirmed the booking on Wednesday's new edition of UFC Tonight on Fox Sports 1, and the 145 lb. fight will be a five-round main event to cap off the UFC's International Fight Week.
Penn fights for the first time since his December 2012 drubbing at the hands of Rory MacDonald in welterweight action. It's also his first ever fight at 145 lbs., where he'll attempt to avenge his two 2010 losses to Edgar for the UFC Lightweight Championship.
Edgar dropped to featherweight in 2013 after consecutive decision losses to Benson Henderson in extremely close fights, then lost another competitive fight to UFC Featherweight Champ Jose Aldo. He bounced back with a one-sided decision win over Charles Oliveira last July.
This will be his first fight since then, having taken a few months off before the UFC decided to put he and Penn back together on TUF. TUF 19 begins airing on Fox Sports 1 in April.
