After a four-fight winning streak came to an end at the hands of surging contender Matt Brown, Mike Pyle looks to get back on track at UFC 170.
Pyle (25-9-1 MMA, 8-4 UFC) is slated to fight fellow welterweight T.J. Waldburger (16-8 MMA, 4-3 UFC) at the early-2014 event.
UFC officials announced the fight via the Las Vegas Sun.
UFC 170 takes place Feb. 22 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The main card, featuring a headliner between Rashad Evans and Daniel Cormier, airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and MMAjunkie.
Pyle, who fights in his current home city of Las Vegas for the third time in four fights, was on an impressive run before the 29-second loss to Brown. The 38-year-old vets streak included knockouts of Ricardo Funch, Josh Neer and James Head, as well as a split-decision victory over Rick Story. They were the WEC, Strikeforce, EliteXC and IFL vets first knockout wins since 2006.
He now meets Waldburger, who was on a 3-1 run before a KO setback of his own. In October at UFC 166, the 25-year-old Texan suffered a first-round defeat to Adlan Amagov. Waldburger, who has a solid grappling game like Pyle, had submitted the likes of Mike Stumpf, Jake Hecht and Nick Catome during his 3-1 run before the defeat.
With the addition, the UFC 170 card now includes:
Daniel Cormier vs. Rashad Evans
Rory MacDonald vs. Demian Maia
Rafael dos Anjos vs. Rustam Khabilov
Mike Pyle vs. T.J. Waldburger
