UFC light heavyweight Quinton Jackson has been very vocal about his interest in leaving the organization to pursue what he feels will be greener pastures in free agency. Though “Rampage” is doing what’s right for him, most fans seem to favor the notion of Jackson finishing out his career inside the Octagon instead of overseas or in smaller organizations.
If there’s one person who might be able to convince Jackson to change his mind it’s Chael Sonnen, an outspoken competitor whose way with words is well-documented. However, Sonnen won’t potentially be winning Jackson’s interest in re-signing with support or logical arguments, but rather by insulting him to the point the former 205-pound champion feels the need to extend his deal at least one more fight to squash Sonnen in the cage.
“If I could understand a single word (Jackson) said about me I might be mildly offended,” wrote Sonnen on Twitter this week in response to a series of insults Jackson made in a recent interview. “Hard to hear “Rampage” all the way from the bottom of his pit of obscurity. Ya know, I was wrong about your acting ability. Calling me out was your best performance yet.”
In a conversation with Inside MMA, Jackson labeled Sonnen as boring and criticized him for talking his way into title-fights rather than by winning the bulk of his bouts. If the two were to face off it wouldn’t be until mid/late 2013, as Sonnen is currently booked against Jon Jones in April after the two coach on TUF 17 and Jackson is likely to take on Glover Teixeira at some point in the next few months.
