Former UFC welterweight title contender Jon Fitch has received a new opponent for his next World Series of Fighting bout.
Fitch will meet Dennis Hallman at WSOF 11 in July, according to a report by MMAjunkie.com. Hallman marks the fourth opponent scheduled for Fitch and the card.
He was originally set to face Rousimar Palhares for the WSOF title, but Palhares bowed out due to a family illness. Jake Shields was tabbed to face Fitch next, but an injury knocked him and subsequent replacement Josh Burkman out.
The fight between Fitch (25-6-1) and Hallman (53-14-2) will serve as the co-main event to a lightweight title fight featuring champion Justin Gaethje and Nick Newell. The main card airs on NBC.
Hallman is a veteran of numerous promotions, including the UFC where he went 3-2. However, two missed weigh-ins led to his release. He’s won three straight fights overall.
Fitch is 1-1 since joining the WSOF after a release from the UFC. He lost to Burkman and defeated Marcelo Alfaya last year.
Below is the current lineup:
