A featherweight bout featuring a Canadian hero has been added to UFC 154.
Mark Hominick, the native of Thamesford, Ontario, will take on Pablo Garza at UFC 154, which takes place November 17 at Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The fight was confirmed today by UFC Canadas official Twitter account.
Hominick is currently riding a three-fight losing streak, having dropped a split decision to Eddie Yagin at UFC 145, being knocked out in seven seconds by Chan Sung Jung at UFC 140, and losing a war of attrition against UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 129. Facing the prospect of a fourth-straight setback, Hominick badly needs a victory over Garza to remain relevant.
Garza, on the other hand, has dropped two-straight fights, being decisioned by Dennis Bermudez at UFC on FOX 3 and prior to that being submitted by Dustin Poirier. However, before the Poirier loss he had won back-to-back post-fight award bonuses for his flying triangle choke submission over Yves Jabouin at UFC 129 and his flying knee knockout over Fredson Paixao at The Ultimate Fighter: Season 12″ Finale. But with two-straight losses, this is a must-win fight for Garza.
It is not known yet whether the fight takes place on the UFC 154 main card or if it will be slotted on the preliminary card.
