Machida out - Belfort in against Jones.
Jon Jones will not be facing Lyoto Machida at UFC 152 after all.
Instead, Vitor Belfort will fight Jones for the UFC light heavyweight title on Sept. 22 in Toronto. UFC president Dana White confirmed the change with MMAFighting.com late Thursday night.
According to White, Machida turned down the title shot on Thursday. At some point during the day, Belfort volunteered to fight Jones on one month's notice, and after Machida declined to fight Jones, Belfort was granted the title shot by the promotion.
Belfort was originally scheduled to face Alan Belcher at UFC 153 in October. White said he hasn't decided who will fight Belcher instead.
White added since Machida turned down the title shot, he will most likely have to fight another top contender before he gets an opportunity to fight for the title again.

Flyweight Cheat Sheet
Joseph Benavidez
Next Fight – UFC 152 vs. Demetrious Johnson
Previously one of the top bantamweights in the world, Joseph Benavidez is now looking to nab UFC gold at 125 pounds. Winner of eight of 10 Zuffa bouts (WEC and UFC) with his only losses coming via close decision to 135-pound boss Dominick Cruz, Benavidez has defeated the likes of Eddie Wineland, Miguel Angel Torres, Rani Yahya, and Jeff Curran. Now after his flyweight debut knockout of Yasuhiro Urushitani, he is one win over Demetrious Johnson away from becoming the UFC’s first ever flyweight champ.
Chris Cariaso
Next Fight – TBA
Chris Cariaso made the move 10 pounds south the only way you want to – off a two fight winning streak. And after defeating Vaughan Lee and Takeya Mizugaki at bantamweight, “Kamikaze” Chris made his flyweight debut in style in July, looking sharp in a three round unanimous decision win over Josh Ferguson. Perhaps the most technically sound striker at 125 pounds, Cariaso will be a handful for anyone in the division.
John Dodson
Next Fight – UFC on FX 5 vs. Jussier Formiga
John Dodson has made quite the impression in just two UFC bouts, winning season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter at bantamweight with a first round knockout of TJ Dillashaw last December, and then engaging in an entertaining brawl in his return to flyweight against Tim Elliott in May, a bout he won via unanimous decision. Charismatic and full of energy, Dodson will get a stern test in his next outing against Jussier Formiga in October, but with his record already containing the aforementioned names, plus John Moraga, Yasuhiro Urushitani, and Mike Easton, “The Magician” is not accustomed to ducking anyone.
Tim Elliott
Next Fight – TBA
Missouri’s Tim Elliot began his career at 0-2-1, and things weren’t looking too bright. But then the scrappy southpaw ran off eight consecutive wins, including a knockout of Jens Pulver in 2011 to earn a call from the UFC. His win streak was snapped in a decision loss to John Dodson in May, but his action-packed style, good wrestling, and knockout power have guaranteed him a return to the Octagon, something sure to be welcomed by fight fans.
Jussier Formiga
Next Fight – UFC on FX 5 vs. John Dodson
Before the UFC launched its flyweight division and before Ian McCall handed him the lone loss of his pro career in February of 2011, Brazil’s Jussier Formiga was considered to be the gold standard for 125-pound mixed martial artists. And despite the decision loss to McCall, Formiga’s subsequent five fight winning streak left little doubt that the best flyweight not signed by the UFC was 27-year old from Natal. Well, now he’s here, and when he meets John Dodson in October, get ready for one of the most important non-title flyweight bouts of 2012.
Louis Gaudinot
Next Fight – TBA
A competitor on season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter, Louis Gaudinot first caught everyone’s attention with his bright green hair, but after returning to the flyweight division in May of 2012 and winning Fight of the Night for his three round victory over Brazil’s John Lineker, there’s even more to look at from this rising 125-pound star.
Ulysses Gomez
Next Fight – TBA
Grappling wizard Ulysses Gomez may have lost his UFC debut to John Moraga earlier this month, but the Las Vegas veteran is likely to come back with a fury once he’s returned to the Octagon for fight number two. 9-3 as a pro, the 29-year old still has plenty to offer to the division, and if he gets you to the mat, you’re going to be in trouble.
Phil Harris
Next Fight – UFC on FX 5 vs. Darren Uyenoyama
England’s Phil “Billy” Harris is one of the division’s most seasoned vets, compiling a 21-9, 1 NC record in a career that began in 2003. Bringing a five fight winning streak into his October meeting with Darren Uyenoyama, Harris – who lost a 2005 bout to current featherweight champ Jose Aldo – should make things interesting in the wide-open weight class.
Demetrious Johnson
Next Fight – UFC 152 vs. Joseph Benavidez
A 5-foot-3 ball of energy that tore through the bantamweight division of the WEC and UFC, Demetrious Johnson soared to the number one contender’s spot in 2011 with UFC wins over “Kid” Yamamoto and Miguel Angel Torres. And though he lost a tough five rounder against Dominick Cruz in his title fight last October, the flyweight division allows “Mighty Mouse” to compete on a level playing field against fighters closer to his natural weight, and he showed off his talents in two fights with Ian McCall that saw him battle to a draw and then score a three round victory against “Uncle Creepy.” Now he faces Benavidez for the vacant 125-pound crown next month.
John Lineker
Next Fight – UFC on FUEL TV 6 vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani
22-year old John Lineker has more fights (25) than he’s had years on this Earth, so his UFC debut in May was hotly-anticipated by MMA fans. He didn’t disappoint either, as he went toe-to-toe and blow-for-blow with Louis Gaudinot before getting submitted late in the second round. The bout earned the Brazilian Fight of the Night honors, and his match with Japanese veteran Yasuhiro Urushitani in China later this year (a fight originally on the ill-fated UFC 151 event) could very well produce the same result for the third youngest fighter in the organization.
Ian McCall
Next Fight – TBA
Considered by many to be one of the best flyweights in the world today, California’s Ian McCall has finally found a home at 125 pounds after competing against the best bantamweights in the world for years. A three fight alumnus of the WEC, where he won a stirring TKO over “Ox” Wheeler and went the distance with current 135-pound champion Dominick Cruz, McCall saw a five fight unbeaten streak snapped by Demetrious Johnson in their June 2012 rematch, but “Uncle Creepy” is already plotting his Octagon return.
John Moraga
Next Fight – TBA
Ulysses Gomez may have had the bigger name in the MMA community heading into August 4th’s UFC on FOX event, but former Arizona State University wrestler John Moraga left the Octagon with the win that night, and he did it by impressing everyone who saw him control the standup, keep Gomez from getting the fight to the ground, and then finish things with a barrage of accurate strikes. Winner of 11 of his 12 bouts, with the only loss coming via decision to John Dodson in 2010, Moraga is one to watch at 125 pounds.
Jared Papazian
Next Fight – TBA
If there’s one certainty in the fight game at this moment, it’s probably that the next time we see Jared Papazian, not only will he be in a new weight class, but that he’ll also be doing everything in his power to finish off his opponent. That attitude may sprout from his two UFC bouts at 135 pounds, where he lost a close majority decision to Mike Easton and then got no favors in a questionably officiated submission defeat to Dustin Pague. For the free-swinging Californian, the next bout could be make or break, and he’s got every intention of making it.
Yasuhiro Urushitani
Next Fight – UFC on FUEL TV 6 vs. John Lineker
A Shooto bantamweight (123 pound) champion, Yasuhiro Urushitani has won five of his last six bouts, an impressive run in the veteran’s 10 year MMA career. Owner of wins over recent Ultimate Fighter winner John Dodson, Mamoru Yamaguchi, and Daniel Lima, the 35-year old has ended his last two wins by knockout, and after a loss to Joseph Benavidez in his Octagon debut, he’ll look to get back on track against John Lineker.
Darren Uyenoyama
Next Fight – UFC on FX 5 vs. Phil Harris
Darren Uyenoyama’s 7-3 pro MMA record hides his true experience in the combat arts and his reputation among fight game insiders. In other words, he’s no rookie, and the Ralph Gracie jiu-jitsu black belt showed it in his UFC debut last November, as he dominated “Kid” Yamamoto for three rounds en route to a shutout unanimous decision win. Injuries have kept him from making his flyweight debut, but on October 5th the Strikeforce, Dream, Deep, and Shooto veteran finally returns to mean British newcomer Phil Harris.
Jorge Gurgel vs. Mizuto Hirota added to 'Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Healy' lineup
Strikeforce officials today announced the new contest, which is slated for the evening's preliminary card.
"Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Healy" takes place Sept. 29 at Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento, Calif., and lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez meets Pat Healy in the headliner. The night's main card airs on Showtime following prelims on Showtime Extreme.
Honorio Banario: "I am ready to attack for three rounds if I have to but normally my opponents don't last that long."
Honorio Banario‘s name is not as well known as other Filipino fighters such as Eduard Folayang and Eric Kelly but the 6-1 featherweight is on a mission to change that next weekend. His bout with Andrew Benibe is penciled as the show-opener at ONE FC: Pride of a Nation and all eyes will be on these two Filipinos at an event expected to attract 16,500 fans.
An emphatic win for Banario, who holds the URCC lightweight belt, would thrust him instantly into the limelight, and, after winning six fights out of six in the Philippines, he is very confident of victory on August 31 as he made clear in an interview with Fighters.com.
“I have seen Andrew fight before so I know what to expect, I have been training very hard with Team Lakay and my condition is good and I believe I will win this fight, I am hoping for a first round knockout,” explained Banario.
The 24-year old is looking to get back into title contention after suffering a disappointing submission loss to top Korean featherweight Bae Young Kwon in his last outing. It was the first time he had ever experienced defeat and it left a bitter taste which has lingered longer than he would have liked.
“I did not get a chance to show what I can do at ONE FC because I lost in the first round,” admitted the frustrated fighter. “I am very happy that I have another opportunity to fight for the ONE FC and to show everyone what sort of a fighter I am, at Team Lakay we train to be aggressive and to fight very hard and I think the fans like that sort of style, it is entertaining.”
The fight against Kwon was Banario’s first at 145 pounds after competing his entire career at 159 pounds (the URCC lightweight limit). Though he says the weight cut was uncomfortable, het has learned from the experience and thinks things will be easier next time around.
In addition to his interest in redemption, it is also a good time for him to be getting back in the ONE FC cage because championship belts are going to be introduced as early as October. At present Kelly is the forerunner for the featherweight strap after beating Mitch Chilson and Kwon but Banario wants to work his way back into contention.
“Of course I want to challenge for the title but first I must win some fights. I am ready to fight anyone, I would like to fight Bae Young Kwon again but for now I am training to beat Benibe and I know that I need to win this fight to get my reputation back,” said Banario.
Kelly and Banario both came up through the Baguio scene and Kelly, who is the URCC featherweight champion, was once a member of Team Lakay. With both signed to ONE FC and competing at featherweight their paths could potentially collide even though Banario hopes it won’t happen too soon.
“Me and Eric sparred together a lot when he was training for his first fight for ONE FC although he is not in Baguio anymore,” he revealed. “I prefer not to fight against my fellow Filipino and I hope that ONE FC can find me opponents from other places in the world because I am very proud to represent the Philippines when I fight but it is not up to me, if ONE FC want the fight then it can happen.”
Before he can start thinking about title shots and future fights Banario must erase the memories of his last loss by winning at the Araneta Coliseum. He doesn’t want to offer any predictions but has never been to a decision in his entire career and doesn’t intend to start now,
“I always try to finish the fight, that is my style. I am confident in my Wushu but if I see the chance to go for the takedown I can do that too and I like to use the ground and pound to beat people up. I am ready to attack for three rounds if I have to but normally my opponents do not last that long.”
Fans can catch Banario-Benibe in streaming action when things fire up on August 31. ONE FC is broadcasting the entire event through their website.

Tweet2 Title Changes At TNA’s No Surrender PPV
Two title changes took place Sunday night at No Surrender as Winter regained the Women’s Knockout Championship from Mickie James while Austin Aries beat Brian Kendrick to capture the X Division Championship.
The title changes were forewarned prior to the event as a match line-up for the Sept. 23 TNA live event in Springfield, Illinois listed Aries as the X Division Champion and Winter as the Women’s Knockouts Champion. We reported both these title changes in our **SPOILER** report on Sunday afternoon.
Robert Roode defeated Bully Ray via pinfall to win the Bound for Glory Series and earn a match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship next month at Bound for Glory. Roode beat Gunner via submission earlier in the show, tying Bully Ray’s 52-point total—Ray beat James Storm in the second match of the event. This set up the tiebreaker match between Roode and Ray. It obviously looks like Roode is in for a huge TNA push.

Jon Jones finds himself in a war of words with Chael Sonnen
Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen got into a war of words on Wednesday that showed a glimpse of the future if Sonnen can find his way to another title shot.
It started with Sonnen being Sonnen on "UFC Tonight." When discussing his move up to light heavyweight to face Forrest Griffin, Sonnen says he could easily take the belt away from the champion.
With his bout with Dan Henderson just weeks away, Jones would pay no mind to what Sonnen said, right? Because it's clear this is classic Chael Shtick (trademark pending), and there is no reason for Jones to even respond.
Except:
"The things you say about me hold absolutely no weight," Jones wrote on Twitter. "You disrespected Anderson (Silva) and his country but fought like a child.
"If you're going to disrespect me out of nowhere, at least disrespect me to my face like a man. And you call me a punk, I'm more man than you'll ever be."
Though Jones' tweets have been deleted, Sonnen's responses have not been. He mentioned both Jones' recent DUI and his new deal with Nike.
Advice to @jonnybones. Take some of that Nike money, hire new writers.
— chael sonnen (@sonnench) August 15, 2012
Boardingplane toOregon now, home of your corporate wage masters. Next time you are in town, knock on my door. Don't drive. @johnnybones
— chael sonnen (@sonnench) August 15, 2012
Jones' response? He is just manipulating Sonnen.
For everyone who thinks I'm "falling into chaels game" I know exactly what I'm doing.. #AreYouNotEntertained
— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) August 15, 2012
As a fighter, Jones has yet to find his equal. He continues to improve with each fight, and has proven he has a hold on his division. But Jones is nowhere near Sonnen's level when it comes to trash talk. No fighter is.
If Sonnen is so far behind Jones as a mixed martial artist, why give him the satisfaction of turning and looking back? It's odd to see a fighter engage in a trash talk war with another fighter when his own fight is so close.
Chad Mendes facing up to six months behind bars for battery
UFC featherweight Chad Mendes doesn’t currently have a bout booked but it looks like he does of a time and place for his next fight, albeit one he’ll be waging inside a California courtroom rather than the cage. Mendes has been formally charged with battery relating to a July 29 incident where he is alleged to have sucker-punched an individual.
If found guilty, the 27-year old could end up paying a $2,000 fine and having to spend up to six months in jail. He will be arraigned on September 19.
A More Detailed Report of Mendes’ Run In with the Law
Mendes narrowly avoided arrest last month after authorities responded to a call involving a large-scale bar fight in the featherweight’s hometown of Hanford, California. Though not one of the main culprits, Mendes refused to leave the scene and is then said to have struck one of the business’ patrons as he fled through the establishment’s back door. He was pursued by police for further questioning but managed to escape on foot.
No comment has come from Mendes on the matter though his legal team has denied the accuracy of the story being circulated by country officials.

Ken Shamrock roughs up a woman that he thought was a man
UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock had a battery report filed against him, this after being accused of battering a woman at a California mall. Ken has stated that it was an honest mistake due to the fact Cause I thought she was he.
The worlds most dangerous man was apparently hanging out at a mall in Modesto, California last month when he noticed a fight break out between two women in front of the Coach store.
Its reported that Shamrock tried to jump in to separate the cat fight when a LARGE bystander jumped on Ken and took his back in order to remove him from the altercation. Shamrocks rep told TMZ that Ken threw the person off his back and followed that up with a move that knocked the attacker down to the ground.
Shortly after the knockdown the crowd apparently started yelling at Ken You just hit a girl!. Ken took a closer look only to realize that the person was indeed a female and he instantly backed out of the ladies den.
When officers arrived on the scene they filed a battery report against Ken, while noting that the only injury to the woman was a small laceration on the left knee. Odds are that The worlds most dangerous man will not be prosecuted as officials have already stated that they believe Ken was the victim and only acting in self defense.
Shamrocks rep stated for the record Outside the ring, Ken is not a violent man and was only trying to do the right thing.

Jon Jones stands by his decision to turn down Chael Sonnen fight but apologizes to those affected by it
Over the past 24 hours, UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones has endured more verbal shots than a proverbial punching bag, taking the brunt of the public’s criticism surrounding the cancellation of UFC 151 based on his refusal to fight Chael Sonnen on short notice. However, as difficult as the fallout has been for Jones, the 25-year old hasn’t wavered in his stance that turning the bout down was the right thing to do for him personally.
When asked to address the matter, Jones made it clear he did not regret his decision but did sympathize for the fans and fighters whose lives had been negatively impacted by the situation.
“I signed a contract a long time ago to fight Dan Henderson. That’s what I studied for, and that’s what I prepared myself for. To take a fight with a different opponent in which I would basically have three days of training before traveling and then starting to cut weight I just thought would be the dumbest idea ever. I wouldn’t have been properly prepared,” explained Jones in an interview with MMAJunkie. “Chael is completely different fighter. This is war. This is strategy. You have to go in there prepared and know that you did your homework. I wouldn’t be the same warrior if I just jumped in there blindly and was cutting weight while I was trying to prepare for the fight.”
Jones Sees Plenty of Challenges at 205 Pounds on the Horizon
“I definitely apologize to the other fighters on the card. I feel terrible, but it also wasn’t my decision to cancel the whole card. I don’t make those decisions,” the polarizing pugilist continued. “I apologize to the people that lost money on tickets and travel and things like that. I don’t apologize for my decision, but I do apologize for the way it affected people. I hope people can understand I was just trying to do the best thing for my career.”
Jones concluded the conversation by explaining he was moving forward, focusing on his next fight rather than the way things have unfolded in the wake of this week’s unfortunate news.

UFC on FOX 4 Musings
Lyoto Machida earned another crack at the light heavyweight crown with his amazing second-round knockout win over Ryan Bader. But it is far from certain that his title fight will come against current champion Jon Jones.
Jones is less than a month away from facing one of the most decorated fighters in the history of the sport. Sure, Dan Henderson will be 42 by fight night. Yes, that is well beyond the expiration date for most mixed martial artists. Hendo, however, is not just another fighter. He is the only man to simultaneously hold titles in two different weight classes for the UFC or PRIDE. He is also 4-0 since his 40th birthday, including wins over Fedor Emelianenko, a man once viewed as the best ever, and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, who remains very much in the 205-pound mix.
Henderson is a very viable threat to dethrone Jones. I’m not saying that will come to fruition. I’m suggesting that it is a very real possibility.
I doubt he will ever admit it, but I’m guessing that Machida would much rather face Henderson for the title. Machida’s style is perfectly suited to topple the all-time great because he is so adept at avoiding strikes and countering unbridled attacks. Jones’ length and speed, by contrast, make it tough for Machida to execute his normal game plan, thus he has to change up his style if he wants to reverse the outcome of his December 2011 submission loss to the champion.
NO TITLE SHOT NEXT, BUT SHOGUN STILL CONTINUES TO IMPRESS
Shogun continued his streak of amazing performances on Saturday night. Throw away his loss to Jones, and it is tough to find fault with Shogun’s efforts since he lost to Forrest Griffin back in his UFC debut in 2007. His last two fights were particularly impressive because he faced and overcame very real adversity in each. Brandon Vera gave Shogun everything he wanted and more on Saturday night. And Shogun gave it all back to him, plus some more. He may not be next up for a title shot, but this guy continues to prove that he is among the very best in the world.
I would be shocked – literally shocked – if Shogun doesn’t secure a title shot with his next win. The question, of course, is who will he face next? The leading candidates seem to be Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Phil Davis and Alexander Gustafsson, each of whom continues to push toward their first opportunity at UFC gold. Another very real possibility is a bout with the loser of next month’s title fight between Jones and Henderson. If Hendo pulls out a win and the UFC decides to give Jones an immediate rematch, then a rubber match with Machida also springs up as a possibility.
VERA PROVES THAT THE “TRUTH” MAY STILL BE IN THERE SOMEWHERE
I’m going to keep this one short and sweet. Saturday night was the best Brandon Vera that the world has seen since his win over Frank Mir. I don’t care that he lost. Vera showed tremendous grit and even better skills in his four-round effort.
The knock on this guy has never been about his skills. Vera remains one of the most naturally gifted fighters in the sport. The questions have all revolved around his commitment to training and his mental state during fights. Vera answered both of those questions against Shogun.
Vera was clearly fully prepared for battle. His physique looked tremendous, something that hasn’t always been the case. That suggests both a commitment to training and a proper diet. He pressed forward for most of the fight and held his ground when he came under heavy fire during exchanges. That suggests a level of confidence that we haven’t seen in Vera for years. The only way that confidence rears its head is if he left no stone unturned in training.
Sure, Vera has now lost three of his last five. Nevertheless, I don’t think he has ever been better prepared to maximize his vast potential in the 205-pound division. If Vera uses his loss as a motivational experience and embraces the fact that his commitment to preparation is what yielded such a great performance, then I think Vera will embark on a nice little run of wins starting with his next fight.
IS LAUZON THE BEST FINISHER IN THE GAME?
Joe Lauzon has 22 wins on his professional resume. Each of them occurred inside the distance – 18 by submission and four by knockout.
I must admit. I had no idea that was the case until UFC commentator Mike Goldberg dropped that little nugget of knowledge during the broadcast. That sort of preparation was yet another example of Goldie’s serious dedication to his craft.
I’m sure a statistician out there somewhere will do the research, but I’m guessing that there is nobody in the UFC with 20-plus wins without at least one win by judges’ decision, other than the New Englander.
But let’s not get crazy and take too much from the win. Lauzon is the real deal, but he has a lot more work to do if he wants to be considered a title contender. Nonetheless, he might just be the best finisher in the sport.
Let me know below if I’m wrong.
WELCOME BACK, KID LION
Mike Swick is good people. Not the “I’m a pro athlete, so I’m going to act fake in public” good. He is just a good dude. I first met him right after the filming of the inaugural season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” And he was an ordinary, humble and classy guy – he opened the door to the gym for my then-girlfriend (now wife), and he didn’t know us at the time. He didn’t do it because he felt like he had to. He did it because that is just the kind of guy he is.
With that in mind, Swick’s return to the UFC after a long, long absence with a savage knockout win after a gut-check fight was a very real feel-good story. I’ll go one step further. It was the perfect way for him to return because it answered a lot of questions about Swick going forward.
There is no doubt that Swick had butterflies and a bit of self-doubt after his two-year absence from competition. Oh, did I mention that he was in the midst of his first career two-fight losing streak of his career, before the sport he loves so much got ripped away from him?
I’m sure the fact that he was facing DaMarques Johnson didn’t help the jitters. Johnson is a banger of the first order—an ultra-tough guy with a couple of boulders hanging from his shoulders.
Johnson had his moments of success during the fight. Swick admitted afterward that a punch in the first round left him struggling to find clear vision. But he didn’t panic. He didn’t quit. And he definitely didn’t look for an easy way out.
Swick stood his ground and fought back. He relied on his heart and skills, and they didn’t let him down. Swick’s knockout win was the finest of his career, considering all the background noise.
For my money, I think “Kid Lion” should instantly catapult back into the welterweight mix. The title picture is going to be muddied for more than a minute, so there is no need to get silly and start talking about championship implications. Nonetheless, he should definitely be in the cage against a top 10 contender in his next bout as he builds toward what I believe will be his first title fight sometime in 2013.
By the way, Mike “Quick” Swick used to be known as “Kid Lion,” for those who are new to the sport. I say we bring it back, particularly after a return to the UFC like that.

Vickie Guerrero, Brodus Clay, and Damien Sandow Make for Interesting Dance Partners
Who can forget this past Monday night on RAW when Brodus Clay along with Naomi and Cameron were getting their groove on–notably getting the currently-in-the-ring treatment after commercial–when Vickie Guerrero excused herself down the ramp> Vickie was not enjoying the show and, as part of her official capacity as Queen Diva, bravely challenged the Funkasaurus to a dance-off despite Clay having a +1 in Grooving.
Speaking of moves, Vickie’s gotten herself into a good groove over the last couple month. She seems to love what she’s doing more than she has in a while (understandable now that they’re dumping her in pig crap less often), and in my mind she was totally holding her own with her grinning jerky robot dancing. Even Jerry Lawler was pretty funny with a joke about her being on the new show Dancing With The Vaguely Familiar instead of just calling her fat.
When the ”Hallelujah” chorus interrupted the affair to bring out Damien Sandow, who just missed making the US Olympic team in Men’s Cartwheeling, taking advantage of a prone Funkasaurus distracted by Vickie’s seductive moves.
Both stars debuted on WWE TV this year and have been in need of a serious feud, and it totally makes sense that Sandow would be frustrated by Clay’s schtick.

Donald Cerrone Wins Big at UFC 150
After a spectacular night of MMA action, UFC president Dana White awarded three fighters some extra cash for their special performances at “UFC 150: Henderson vs. Edgar II.”
Donald Cerrone (Pictured) double dipped by taking home ‘Fight of the Night’ for his back-and-forth battle against Melvin Guillard, and ‘Knockout of the Night’ for putting his buddy to sleep in the show’s co-featured attraction.
Cerrone left Denver with $120,000 for his efforts.
The night wasn’t a complete loss for Guillard, he also scored $60k for his part in FOTN.
Dennis Bermudez posted the only tap out of the evening, so he was a no brainer to score ‘Submission of the Night’ honors. He slapped on a guillotine choke on Tom Hayden to earn his bonus check.
UFC 150 took place inside Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
Fight of the Night:
Donald Cerrone and Melvin Guillard ($60,000/each)

Tales from the Training Room: The 24-Hour Lock-In
Two weekends ago, New Jersey-based pro fighter Anthony Montanaro was stuck in hell. He and over twenty other people were confined to the matted-space within the four walls of a massive gym, and every hour for twenty-four hours straight, all were subjected to workouts of varying length and composition. There were seven-minute wrestling matches. Rope climbs. Box jumps and pull-ups. The works. No sleep was allowed, and men broke, both physically and mentally. Yet, despite being driven to the brink of madness, Montanaro pushed through, and when the last workout was done and they were all permitted to leave, he was stronger because if it. Such was the magic of the 24-hour lock-in.
"A 24-hour lock-in is your worst nightmare amplified by ten," says the 25-year-old Montanaro, who, with a shaved head and the tattoo of an armored pitbull on a chest, looks every bit the MMA fighter archetype. "It's twenty-four hours straight of nonstop training, where every hour on the hour you have a different workout that could be five minutes to a half-hour long. The whole purpose is to break you, to make you hit the wall as soon as possible. It's all mental toughness. It's a nightmare."
The Rhino Wrestling Club in Morganville, N.J., was where this nightmare unfolded; the day began Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. and went until 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning. It was rigorous, with the intense physical activity and sleep-deprivation aspects making it more akin to what a soldier would do for Special Forces training than anything else. "I don't know if they stole the idea from Navy SEAL-type stuff, but it was ridiculous," says Montanaro. "It was kind of like the whole Marine or Army crucible-type stuff, know what I mean?"
To prepare for fights, fighters go to great lengths to make themselves like steel. There's roadwork, padwork, grappling, and as we've seen on "The Ultimate Fighter", conditioning drills that can involve things like flipping giant tires and swinging sledgehammers. With a fight coming up in the next few months, Montanaro is no different. But what benefits are derived from the lock-in? Clearly, the limits of the conditioning of the participants are pushed, but is there something more?
"Honestly, just complete mental toughness," says Montanaro. "You get to a point where you don't think you can go anymore and then you have to go. It's insane. It's probably the worst training I've ever done. I was more nervous for that than any fight I've ever had to do."
What of the necessities of human existence? "They have a bathroom, of course," says Montanaro. "Food's included… all the food you can eat. After your workouts, even if you weren't hungry, they stressed that you drink and eat nonstop — just carb you up and keep you going. Sleep, that's not encouraged at all. They keep you awake, keep you zombified, keep you going."
Obviously, the whole endeavor was tortuous. Was there any particular thing that Montanaro found to be the toughest? "The toughest thing about the lock-in? Where do I even start? The whole damn thing. Once you hit that first wall, that's when it's brutal. Everything hits you all at once — you want to sleep, you try to lay down and it's time for the next workout. I would say around two or three in the morning, that's when it's the worst. You know you could just leave at any point you want, but it's just that whole mental aspect."
If one could literally leave at any time, it sounds as if the name — a "lock-in" — is a bit of a misnomer. "It was going to be a complete lock-in, but it was so damn hot, there was no way they could do something like that. We would've kicked the doors down. There was no way."
With door unlocked and retreat requiring only an exit through the door, did anyone quit? "No, surprisingly enough, no one quit. And the craziest thing was there was an 11-year old kid there. Some parent signed their kid up to do it! It was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. So anytime someone wanted to quit, we'd look at this little kid. He was our mascot."
What was the atmosphere like? Was it all business, or was there at least some of element of fun to it? "For the first probably like eight to ten hours, everyone was kind of feeling each other out — you know, like, is everyone in full serious-mode or are we going to have some kind of fun here? Probably at night is when everyone started to get a little loopy. Everyone started to get punchy. The later it got into the night, everyone was just out there."
Would Montanaro go through it all again? "Absolutely," he says without hesitation. "In a heartbeat. After it was done, I honestly just wanted to stay and keep going. It's just nonstop training, no drama, no [expletive], everyone was just there to train. If we could do it, I would love to do it every month."
A wise man once posed the question, "Do you want to be a [expletive] fighter?" It's doubtful he'd dare ask that of Montanaro and participants of the 24-hour lock-in.

UFC on FOX 4 Presser and Highlights
The pre-fight press conference for Saturday's UFC on FOX 4 took place earlier today, and present for the brouhaha was UFC president Dana White and main eventers and co-main eventers Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Lyoto Machida, Brandon Vera and Ryan Bader. Until I can figure out how to embed video, you're going to have to follow this link to watch it. The presser itself doesn't start until around the 26-minute mark. Highlights include:
- White on whether or not the public outcry over announcing that the winner of Shogun vs. Vera would get a title shot caused him any frustration: "Nope, not at all. I said it before and I'll say it again: the way that I look at my job is I'm here to give the fans what they want. They're the ones who decide what they want to see and what they don't want to see. They weren't thrilled with the just the main event being up for the title shot, then the co-main and main event now are. Whoever wins the most impressively on Saturday will now get the shot at the title."
- White on if the performances in the main and co-main event are less than stellar: "If it sucks on Saturday, I'll be the first one standing up here letting you know."
- Machida on if he'd be interested in a third fight with Shogun: "I think it will be a great opportunity for both of us. The trilogy will come for me and Shogun for sure."
- Shogun on a possible third fight with Machida: "I respect a lot Lyoto, and it would be a great opportunity to fight Lyoto. Maybe in the next TUF season in Brazil. It would be a dream come true."
- White on the UFC implementing the ref cam on Saturday night: "I'm still not interested in it… The thing about it is it's great in boxing. Maybe it'll be fantastic."
- Vera on if the announcement that his fight could determine who gets the next shot at the title added any pressure: "Everybody's been asking this question, whether or not it means more because there's a title shot on the line. I don't know what makes you guys think we weren't taking this seriously before, that we weren't going to try to knock the person out that was across from the Octagon from us that evening. I can't speak for everyone else, but that is after the fact. That's a bonus."
- Machida on if he trained with Steven Seagal for this fight: "This camp I did not train with Seagal, but I had a lot of support from my family and from my team. Maybe I'll have a surprise on Saturday."

Josh Koscheck pulled from fight with Jake Ellenberger due to injury
The UFC was left with less than a month to fill a co-headlining clash on September 1 at UFC 151 after news surfaced stating welterweight Josh Koscheck had been forced out of planned meeting with Jake Ellenberger due to a bulging disc in his back.
News of Koscheck’s condition was revealed on UFC Tonight. No timetable was offered for his eventual return to the ring. A replacement for the former Ultimate Fighter is currently being sought.
Koscheck Says Bridge with American Kickboxing Academy is “Burnt”
Koscheck, a former title-contender, is coming off a Split Decision loss to Johny Hendricks many fans felt he deserved the nod in. Finding a reputable substitute for Koscheck could be difficult, as “Kos” holds an overall record of 17-6 with past wins over Diego Sanchez, Anthony Johnson, Paul Daley, and Matt Hughes.
UFC 151 features Jon Jones putting his light heavyweight gold up for grabs against seasoned veteran Dan Henderson in the main event.
