Travis Browne vs. Antonio Silva headlines UFC on FX 5 on Oct. 5

A heavyweight bout featuring Travis “Hapa” Browne and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva will headline UFC on FX 5 in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 5th. The main event bout was confirmed by UFC officials on Friday.

The undefeated Browne (13-0-1) was scheduled to face Ben Rothwell at the upcoming UFC on FOX 4 card on August 4th. However, the bout was scrapped after Rothwell suffered an injury and another opponent wasn’t matched with Browne. Eleven of Browne’s thirteen wins have come via stoppage with nine coming inside the first round. He has wins over Chad Griggs, Rob Broughton, Stefan Struve and James McSweeney inside the octagon.

Silva (16-4), a former Strikeforce competitor, will be making his second appearance in the UFC. He suffered a technical knockout loss to former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez at UFC 146. While in Strikeforce, Silva notched wins over Fedor Emelianenko and Andrei Arlovski.
