Unbeaten heavyweight Travis Browne may have lost his shot to fight on FOX after opponent Ben Rothwell was recently scratched from the UFC’s return to network television but, in the end, it appears as though things may have worked out better for him as a result. Browne has since been scheduled to face Antonio Silva on October at UFC on FX 5 in the card’s headlining slot.
UFC officials confirmed the match-up earlier today.
Browne is 13-0-1 with eleven stoppages including three inside the Octagon. He was last seen stopping Chad Griggs with an Arm-Triangle Choke in the opening round of their rumble at UFC 145.
The 16-4 Silva made his UFC debut in May where he lost by way of TKO to Cain Velasquez. However, “Bigfoot” holds past wins over Andrei Arlovski as well as Fedor Emelianenko, and is no slouch when it comes to finishing foes with fourteen TKOs/submissions in his sixteen total victories.
The card is set for October 5 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Thus far the only other bout linked to the show is Bart Palaszewski-Diego Nunes.
